Sunrun and Fresno Grizzlies Team Up to Install Solar Panels for Deserving Family
Fresno’s Minor League Baseball Team and Sunrun Volunteer with GRID Alternatives to Bring Affordable Clean Energy to Local Family
SAN FRANCISCO and FRESNO, Calif., July 07, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Sunrun Inc. (Nasdaq:RUN), the largest dedicated residential solar company in the United States, today announced it will install a solar energy system on a low-income Fresno family’s home with the Fresno Grizzlies. Local nonprofit GRID Alternatives Central Valley will supply the solar energy system equipment and oversee the installation volunteers.
“We’re excited to give back today to our loyal Fresno community,” said Derek Franks, general manager of the Fresno Grizzlies. “Together with Sunrun and GRID Alternatives, we’re helping a deserving family in Fresno save money on its electric bill with clean, affordable energy from the sun.”
Fresno Grizzlies players Joe Musgrove and Tommy Shirley will join Sunrun employees to install a 4 kW system for Yolanda Lopez and her family, saving them an estimated $37,000 over the system’s 25-year lifetime.
“Sunrunners are actively involved in their local communities and today’s installation at the Lopez family home in Fresno is a great example of that,” said Michael Grasso, Sunrun’s chief marketing officer. “We’re excited that the Grizzlies were eager to join in today’s volunteer event and support a Fresno family’s bright future with solar savings.”
“The monthly savings that solar power provides can make a big difference for hard-working Fresno families,” said Tom Esqueda, Executive Director of GRID Alternatives Central Valley, which has installed solar for nearly 1200 qualifying families throughout the region. “We couldn’t do this without the support of our community and our solar industry partners.”
Sunrun has a multi-year partnership with Minor League Baseball and the Fresno Grizzlies. As the Preferred Residential Solar Power Provider of Minor League Baseball, Sunrun hosts "Sunrun Sundays" throughout the season, offering young fans the opportunity to escort players to their on-field positions as a part of Sunrun's Jr. All-Stars program. Sunrun also partners with GRID Alternatives to support its work in low-income communities nationwide through a combination of employee volunteerism, philanthropic support and in-kind equipment donations.
Sunrun offers families up to 20 percent savings on their electric bill with solar-as-a-service. Sunrun designs, installs, finances, maintains and monitors the systems, so customers can enjoy hassle-free savings without a high upfront cost.
