Sunrun Announces Opening of Its First Office in Maryland

Leading Residential Solar Company Plans to Create an Additional 40 Local Jobs

SAN FRANCISCO, Dec. 22, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Sunrun (Nasdaq:RUN) the largest dedicated residential solar company in the United States, today announced the opening of its first Maryland branch office and warehouse in Linthicum Heights, with plans to hire 40 new employees over the next few months, bringing the company’s total to approximately 70 employees across the state. The office will support Sunrun’s local operations, helping more Maryland homeowners enjoy the benefits of home solar, like saving 20 percent on their electric bill.

Currently, Sunrun is available to homeowners throughout the Baltimore to Washington, D.C. corridor in PEPCO and BG&E utilities, including the following counties: Carroll, Harford, Baltimore, Baltimore City, Howard, Prince George’s, Anne Arundel, Montgomery and Calvert.

“Maryland has seen tremendous growth in its use of renewable energy sources over the past few years, and we’re excited to support that growth by bringing more green jobs to the state,” said Ed Steins, east coast general manager at Sunrun. “With this new office, we hope to enable more Marylanders in making the switch to solar and revolutionizing how they power their homes.”

Sunrun’s open job positions include retail marketing associates, canvassers, sales people, installers, licensed electricians, project managers and management. To view these positions and learn more about what it is like to work at Sunrun, visit the Sunrun Careers page.

Maryland has pledged to expand clean energy use through the Renewable Energy Portfolio Standard, which has already generated year-over-year growth of solar power and other clean resources. In 2014 alone, Maryland installed 40 megawatts of residential solar, powering more than 6,500 homes, according to the Solar Energy Industries Association. This represented a 60 percent increase in megawatts installed since 2013. The state’s solar industry also employs 3,000 residents.

As the first company to introduce solar as a service to American homeowners, Sunrun has reinvented the way people buy electricity. Sunrun gives homeowners access to the smartest energy source – sunlight – and takes care of everything so families can focus on more important things, like putting savings back in their pockets each month.
