Sunrun Brings Jobs to Connecticut With New Hartford Office

Leading Home Solar Company Opens New Connecticut Branch; Expects to Create 40 Additional Jobs in the Community

SAN FRANCISCO, Dec. 15, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Sunrun (Nasdaq:RUN), the largest dedicated residential solar company in the United States, today announced the opening of its first branch location in Connecticut. The office, located in Hartford, will help make it easier for local homeowners to go solar and contribute to state’s ambitious goal of generating 27 percent of its electricity from renewable sources by 2020.

According to the Solar Energy Industries Association, more than 147 companies work throughout the solar industry in Connecticut, employing 1,600 people. Sunrun plans to double its presence in the market to more than 80 employees, with new jobs ranging from retail marketing associates, canvassers, sales people, and project managers. The branch also includes a warehouse with managerial, installation and licensed electrician positions available.

“Sunrun is excited to expand operations in Connecticut as the state has been instrumental in growing residential solar adoption throughout New England,” said Ed Steins, east coast general manager of Sunrun. “By opening an office in Hartford, we look forward to helping more homeowners lower their electricity bills with a clean energy source and bringing new employment opportunities to the community.”

Sunrun first entered the Connecticut market in 2013, and is now available to homeowners throughout the entire state. The company has now helped local customers save more than $184,745 on their electricity bills.

Since 2007, Sunrun has made going solar simple for homeowners by customizing their solar system to their lifestyle and savings goals. Through its solar as a service model, Sunrun makes it simple and accessible for consumers to learn about and get solar for their home – whether online, over the phone, in retail environments or even at professional baseball games.
