Sunrun Launches National Partnership With Grid Alternatives

Leading Residential Solar Company Joins Non-Profit to Provide Home Solar and Job Training to Low-Income Families

SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 22, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Sunrun (Nasdaq:RUN), the largest dedicated residential solar company in the United States, today announced a national partnership with GRID Alternatives, America’s largest solar non-profit. The philanthropic partnership builds on each organization’s mission to expand clean, affordable solar to more homeowners across the country.

“Sunrun has partnered with us in the Bay Area for many years, and we are excited to expand our partnership nationally,” said Tim Sears, co-founder and chief operating officer of GRID Alternatives. “This new commitment will help us continue to deepen our reach and provide more renewable energy and job training to the people who need it most.”

Sunrun will support GRID Alternatives’ work in low-income communities nationwide through a combination of employee volunteerism, philanthropic support and in-kind equipment donations. In addition to volunteering on installations around the country, Sunrun employees will offer GRID’s workforce trainees resume review, practice interviews, and career development counseling, helping recruit and train the next generation of solar industry leaders. Equipment donations will be provided through AEE Solar and SnapNrack, Sunrun’s distribution and racking manufacturing businesses, respectively.

“GRID Alternatives and Sunrun are aligned in our missions to increase access to affordable home solar for more Americans,” said Tom Holland, president of Sunrun. “We are pleased to establish a formal partnership that will not only help our organizations achieve that mission, but also provide needed job training to support the growth of our industry and encourage volunteerism in low income communities across the country.”

As the first company to introduce solar as a service to American homeowners, Sunrun has reinvented the way people buy electricity. Sunrun gives homeowners access to the smartest energy source – sunlight – and takes care of everything so they can focus on putting savings back in their pockets each month.
